What’s happening this Friday

6:15 pm–6:50 pm Sound of Soul Event: Revitalize and Renew with the Sacred Sound of HU.

At a Sound of Soul event, join others in chanting this ancient mantra for about 12 minutes, continuing to allow this uplifting vibration to be experienced in a few moments of quiet contemplation. Afterwards, enjoy an open spiritual discussion on any questions, insights and experiences that you may have.

7:00 pm–8:15 pm: Fulfill Your Potential as Soul, a video talk by Sri Doug Kunin, the Mahanta, the Living ECK Master and Spiritual Leader of Eckankar, originally recorded for the 2025 African ECK Soul Adventure Seminar.

Sri Doug talks to all the attendees at the 2025 African seminar, but he shares that the teachings are for you, the individual: your life, your dreams, your journey. He recounts a story to demonstrate how the ECK, Divine Spirit, will work in anyone’s life who opens their heart to it. He explains a beautiful way to sing the HU. No matter how you see the Creator, sing HU as an instrument of this inner music coming through you into the world—without expectation of results. In closing, he shares a comment from Paul Twitchell, the modern-day founder of Eckankar: whether you have just begun to explore Eckankar and perhaps have read just one book, or have passed through all the initiations, you have the full protection of the Master’s power and love.

You’ll have the opportunity after the 20-minute talk to share reactions, insights, questions and perhaps recognize how Spirit is already working in your life.

8:15 pm–9:00 pm: Fellowship
Fellowship is your chance to meet with old friends, meet new ones, share stories, and laugh a lot. Sometimes these spontaneous moments are where the deepest connections and conversations happen. We might even have food too!

Discover the Sound of HU to fill yourself with love and connect with Divine Spirit.

Experience the transformative power of the HU chant at our Sound of Soul event. Join us for a 12-minute session of chanting this sacred sound to connect with the divine within yourself. Discover the peace, clarity, and spiritual growth that comes from immersing yourself in the uplifting vibrations of the HU. A facilitator-led spiritual conversation will follow the HU song.

HU is a sacred mantra—the Sound behind all sounds. An ancient name for God, HU is a carrier of love between God and Soul. It enables you to open your heart to experience the miracles that occur, when you give and receive love. Monica Shelmandine, the facilitator for this Sound of Soul Event, is looking forward to sharing the HU with you and exploring the heart-opening power of this sacred mantra.

You are invited to attend an in-person workshop sponsored by Eckankar in New York City titled “Exploring Dreams as a Source of Higher Guidance and Insight” to be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, 7:00 pm–8:30 pm. This event will take place at PianoPiano Rehearsal Studios, 37 West 65th St., 4th floor, NY, NY.

At this workshop we hope to explore the following questions:
• Are Dreams Real?
• Where Do Dreams Come From?
• Why is it important to remember our dreams?
• Why don’t we always remember our dreams?
• Why do they often not make sense?
• How can understanding our dreams assist us in our spiritual growth and awareness?

Are you looking for people who love sharing dreams? If so, you will find a community of like-minded, openhearted Spiritual Dreamers who welcome you warmly at this workshop.
In this 90-minute hands-on event, we invite you to recognize and share some of the valuable spiritual experiences that you are already having.

This discussion will be based on Harold Klemp’s booklet The Call of Soul. We’ll be covering the first four chapters: “In Pursuit of God,” “Your State of Consciousness Is Your State of Acceptance,” “Discover the Source of All,” and “Learn to Listen” (pp. 1-28).
