Get off the roads and on the trails with CycleNuts!
In a nutshell - CycleNuts is an alternative cycle touring experience where seeing and socializing take emphasis over speed and (ugh!) sweat. Join along on bikeway touring adventures to destinations near and far as we strive for the
- Goal: to create bikeway touring opportunities for cyclists of all types to enjoy
- Mission: to encourage casual cyclists and cyclists interested in casual cycling to tour together
- Vision: a united cycling community that tours together on bikeway adventures for the holistic benefit of all
What to expect - Casual social cycle touring where exercise is optional, everybody finishes together, and nobody is dropped, abandoned, or left to fend for their self (unless they wish to be). Expect an average pace of 11 mph average with CycleNuts’ 50% downhill guarantee. Sweating is optional. Pictures, merriment, and other tourist activities heartily encouraged. Allow ample time for the nature of CycleNuts tours including
- Trail-side breaks
- Eating and drinking
- Picture taking and posing
- A comfortable 11MPH pace.
- Looking at cool stuff along the way
- And other sorts of tourist activities – as well as unforeseen detours, breakdowns, and delays of various sorts.
Helmets are not mandatory - CycleNuts tours give preference to bikeways - bicycle trails and protected bicycle lanes. Routes may include dedicated bicycle lanes on streets, bicycle ‘friendly’ streets, and of necessity, regular streets, parking lots, sidewalks, and unpaved trails. Darkness may be experienced on evening or early morning rides. Lights in good working order at all times on CycleNuts tours are a great idea – to be seen and to see!
SAG-free - CycleNuts tours, including travel and over-night accommodations, are self-supported with the slightest of guidance. SAG is not provided. Carpools and caravans are individual choices. Emergency road support – if necessary – may be a creative, collective group effort or you may need to fend for yourself. Be prepared with options.
Where does it happen? - CycleNuts Group Meetup in Cincinnati/Columbus is a regional group dedicated to creating a community of cycling enthusiasts. Meet up in the great outdoors with others who enjoy biking as much as you do for weekly bikeway-focused rides. All are welcome - beginners, experts, locals, visitors, singles, couples, e-bikers, not-e-bikers, helmet-heads, and bareheaded bikers. We bike all around the south/central Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana areas. CycleNuts Group Meetups is 4,000+ members strong with additional Meetup Groups to join in the Cleveland/north Ohio region and the Philadelphia/Delmar Peninsula region. All are free, of course, with no extra hidden fees or steps to join. Volunteer ride organizers are always welcome - get in touch with Fran. LET'S RO//!
Yes – CycleNuts will offer cycling events in all four seasons – what else could be expected from CycleNuts?

#### - Guided Long One-way Loop Bike Tour Adventure
A guided 900-mile month-long loop - Cleveland to Coolville and Ashtabula to Xenia; Lake Erie to Ohio River; Amish to urban communities; cities to rural countrysides - using 43 trails & roads at 37 average daily miles to electric overnight stays for both E and not-E bikes.

Join us for a unique, fun month-long bike tour experience! With smart-guided technology, you can ride ahead or behind the tour guide to proceed at your own pace and take in the sights and sounds of this Ohio tour. Our expertly designed route takes you on an in-depth journey at the speed of bike to popular landmarks and hidden gems along the way. The voice and map-guided instructions make it hard to get lost and easy to get back on course. Our tours are designed to be fun and engaging for every average cyclist. Bring your biking crew along and enjoy the ride together!
Group bikeway cycle tours do not get much better than this. Ohio cities, towns, communities, countrysides, lakes, rivers, parks, nicely designed bikeways, historical places, and memory-making spots are found all along the way - great for selfie pictures (it is, after all, a Bikation).
There are many great reasons to cycle tour Ohio. This adventure gets your wheels onto the growing cycling infrastructure of this award-winning state that leads the nation in dedicated bikeway miles. Except for the starting spot you will never see the same thing twice on this Long One-way Loop (LOL) Semi-selfie Tour. Easily add to the adventure by detouring to explore the numerous points of interest (see the list, below)
This Bikation starts where it ends, near Scioto Audubon Dog Park. Bring your furry friend on tour, if you wish. Pete the poodle is coming along! The overnight stays are partly chosen for their pet-friendly policy.
The 951-mile semi-smart-guided route is 36% bikeway and comes with CycleNuts' 50% downhill guarantee. Except for the rail-to-trail segments, the route follows the lay of the land, which in many areas is hilly. Your bike's gears will see use. Where bikeways are not available, roadways chosen by bike apps as bicycle-friendly will be used to connect the dots.
E-bikes are appropriate for this adventure. Daily 37-mile averages between overnight stays where batteries can be recharged fit in with ebike battery distance standards. As well, the relatively short daily mileage makes this long-distance adventure quite doable for the average not-e bike rider. However, if 37 miles daily is not doable for you, then this is not a good tour to attend on May 5th with the group.
Each attendee receives the smart-guided daily tour routes to ride at their preferred comfort level. You can pace with the tour guide or set your own pace. The advantage of this is nobody can be dropped and nobody has to worry about riding ahead or behind because everybody has the tour route and will end up at the same overnight stay (unless they choose to stay elsewhere).
The route may be shaded about 50% of the way. It may rain from time to time - be prepared. Snow is not expected. Sweating is optional. You can set your pace, starting time, and touring agenda on this semi-smart-guided tour or choose to pace with the tour guide. Semi-smart-guided means that each cyclist is provided with the smart-guided tour route (in both Google Maps and Ride With GPS formats) to follow along with the provided tour guide or to ride separately at their own pace, meeting up at the end of each day at the same overnight stay, or not. This also allows participants to take some time off to jump ahead or skip segments of the tour, and later join up with the tour group (or not if they wish).

This adventure gets your wheels on 57 bikeways of Ohio's growing, award-winning cycling infrastructure, which leads the nation in dedicated bikeway miles. BIKATION 2025 - OHIO starts where it ends, near Scioto Audubon Dog Park. Bring your furry friend on tour, if you wish. The overnight stays and suggested restaurant stops are partly chosen for their dog-friendly policy.
The 900-mile smart-guided route is 40% bikeway and comes with CycleNuts' 50% downhill guarantee. Except for rail-to-trail segments, the route follows the lay of the land, which in many areas is hilly to mountainous. The climbs are smoothed out as much as possible to keep the inclines under 10%, but your bike's gears will still see use on most of the segments. Where bikeways are not available, bicycle-friendly roadways chosen by bike apps are used to connect the dots. 60% of the route is on roadways.
E-bikes are appropriate for this adventure. Daily 40-mile averages between overnight stays, where batteries can be recharged, fit in with ebike battery distance standards. The 40-mile daily average also makes this long-distance adventure comfortable for not-e bike riders capable of that distance daily.

let’s bike the Ohio to Erie Trail. If not on your bucket list yet, it will be!!! | Meetup - OTET-bucket list-Ohio to Erie Trail- cool kids from meetup summer Fun Bike Ride!Ohio River Trail, Cincinnati, OH
I did the Ohio to Erie trail (OTET in 2021, which is really 22 trails that take you across the state. I did it just to get another 300 plus miles for the year but I found the Ohio network to be amazing. This will be my 5th time doing it!
So let’s bike the Ohio to Erie Trail. If not on your bucket list yet, it will be! A virtually undiscovered gem.
We saw this trip priced at over $3,000 by more than one tour provider and said hey let's see if we can do more affordably for 12 to 25 meetup cool kids"! $1,950 double occupancy. Single occupancy add $995. Non rider $1,100.
This scenic 326-mile trail links the Ohio River to Lake Erie, primarily on rail trails and canal paths. It traverses four major cities, numerous quaint small towns and miles of pastoral countryside. Do it before more and more people learn of it and add it to their bucket list! This trail can be done on a road bike as it is paved until the 20th of the 20 trails. The last section is finely packed limestone. For that section 28mm tires are ok, but it’s better to have 30mm+.
Join the 326-mile club by riding the whole trail with FunBikeTrips. Why endure the wear and tear on yourself and your bike with gravel or dirt trails when you can enjoy this scenic well-groomed, well-planned trek?
