Have you had a near death experience, spiritual connection, synchronicity, paranormal event or all the above? Or are you not quite sure what happened, but sense it was something out of this world? Perhaps you’re on a newly forged spiritual path or have been on one for many years. Wherever you are on your journey, please join us in this lively and kind space for sharing experiences with some fun, laughter and sometimes tears as we seek, explore, discuss, and together gain clarity.
In September 2006, even though Marie was not actively involved in any spiritual or religious practices, she had a profound spiritual experience while present as her mother passed away, which she now understands as her crossing over. Following that experience, she began researching metaphysics to better understand what had occurred. Years later, she started receiving messages and images from her mother and father, leading her to take mediumship classes as a way to explore and understand her own inner divinity.Love Donations are welcomed at the end of the night to benefit Circle of Miracles. Sunday Celebration! Reaching for Peace in the Face of Division w/Barbara Simmons
So many of us are facing the pain of a severed relationship as a result of our differences in what seems like our values, truth and perceptions. It causes pain, grief and even trauma. Barbara Simmons will share a story or two of bridging that divide, and the need for courage and compassion in order to have some resilience.
BIO:Barbara Simmons, Mediator, Facilitator and Educator served as executive director of The Peace Center for over 30 years. She created and implemented programs focused on prevention, intervention and tertiary methods to address conflict, violence, racism and bigotry in over 300 schools, businesses and communities in the tri-state area. Her work in coalition-building (such as Pennsylvania’s Attorney General Task Force and Bucks County Violence Prevention Task Force) helped the community view violence as a public health issue related to the cycle of trauma.
Simmons has been a Professor of Practice at Arcadia University’s International Peace and Conflict Resolution master’s program for the last 20 years, teaching Advanced Mediation, Conflict Facilitation and Restorative Justice. She has delivered trainings and workshops in Rwanda, South Africa and Northern Ireland in healing such as HROC: Healing and Rebuilding Our Communities, Multi-Track Diplomacy, and Peace-building & Reconciliation.
Simmons was founding creator and producer of audio documentaries to bring awareness of peace-building in Nagasaki & Hiroshima, Japan, Israel & Palestine, Rwanda, South Africa, Vietnam, Northern Ireland, Canada and throughout the US. The PeaceTalks programs aired on National Public Radio, Public Radio International and many other stations across the country. Veteran journalist Walter Cronkite hosted several of the programs. She also traveled with the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers to Dharamsala, India to meet with the Dalai Lama.
Simmons served as Ambassador to WALKING WHILE BLACK: L.O.V.E. Is The Answer, an effort to address police violence against people of color through dialogue and collaborative art projects such as murals (we have painted 4 murals to date in Bucks County), and serves on the Board of the Nakashima Foundation for Peace, the Executive Committee of the NAACP, co-chair of the MLK Peace & Justice Summit, and several other peace and justice efforts in Bucks County. Simmons is currently holding workshops on peaceful protests, and advanced training for Peacekeepers/Marshalls who serve at protests through the Philadelphia region. She is rising Clerk of Newtown Friends Meeting.
