Est. 2024
Chilled Out Meetups is one of Leeds biggest groups organising social events for 18 to 38 year olds. First time here? See information for new members by clicking this link.
Our events include an organised walk every other week (over summer), twice monthly women-only events and a monthly food and/or hot drinks event. We also run 'one off' events from time to time, and hope to add more types of activities in future.
Are you in charge of a venue or other potential event destination? We'd love to hear from you about working together to put on a Meetup. In return for a space, we can offer a large group of new customers and potentially repeat business in the form of one our regular events. Feel free to send us a message.
ORGANISERS WANTED - Our group is co-owned equally by its organisers. Most decisions are made by organizers giving unanimous approval. If you're interested in running events let us know, no matter what type of event you want to do - remember as an organiser you decide the time, place and activity.
We are fully committed to everyone feeling safe and secure at events so there will be zero tolerance for any harassment, unwanted attention or any other disrespectful behavior. This is a space without any kind of prejudice including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia etc. and this includes 'jokes' and 'memes', please take it elsewhere. We may organise women-only events - if this is a problem then this isn't the right group for you.
You can make a donation to the group here.
If you treat others with kindness and use some common sense you should get along fine here, but if you'd like to check our rules you can see them here.
Our financials are kept open for public viewing. You can see the ledger here.
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Chilled Out Party II - STILL FREE!The Backroom, Leeds, LS1 6DT
We've booked out The Backroom as our private venue for this event! All members who RSVP (plus their +1s) can attend for free.
With this brilliant event space all to ourselves, we can get away from the Saturday night crowds and ear-bleeding bar music. Alcoholic and soft drinks are available. At 11pm the venue turns into a club and you can stay to dance the night away.
New members are very welcome! In fact, this is a great way to meet the organisers, meet our regulars and hear about our upcoming events.
We are Kris, Sal, Laura, Pav and Maria and we are Chilled Out Meetups! š
How to find the venue
The venue is in Leeds City Centre, close to bus and train connections plus various multi-storey car parks.
The entrance is at the bottom of Call Lane, just after you go under the railway bridge on the OPPOSITE side of the road from a small fenced off area. To the right of the entrance is Brookyln and to the the left is Baracoa, the entrance to The Backroom is in the middle of those two.
There will be security on the entrance, though we will try and have at least one host out at the front for the start of the event to welcome attendees. If you don't see us, please just tell security you are there for Pavās booking for Chilled Out Meetups and they will let you through. We will be in the upstairs part of the venue.
About Chilled Out Meetups
We are run by volunteers and are committed to charging £0 to be in the group or attend events. Running a Meetup group costs a minimum of several hundred pounds per year, so if you can afford it, please become one of our donors by making a contribution of any size on PayPal or BuyMeACoffee.
- Women Only Motel (Headingley)The HEART Centre, Leeds LS6 3HN
Women only social further out from the center for members who find this more convenient.
This venue has a cafe vibe, however boozy drinks are also available.
About the venue
Assembly Bar and Kitchen offers hot drinks and food in a comfortable setting (No Otley runs allowed!). Assembly is inside the HEART Centre, enter the building at the top of the ramp, turn left then walk to the end of the hallway. Alternatively, there should be someone on reception to point you in the right direction.
Getting here
The center of Headingley is busy but has plenty of free and cheap parking available. There are limited free spaces available directly outside the venue on Bennett Road as well as surrounding streets. The nearest car park is outside the Headingley Tabs pub which shouldn't cost more than £2 for the length of the event (you don't need to be visiting the pub to park there).
Afterwards
There is a mixed event at the Get Baked bakery taking place directly after this event a short walk away. You can see details and RSVP here.
- Get BakedHeadingley Rose Garden (across the road from Get Baked), Leeds
I can't believe we haven't already done an event for this legendary Leeds bakery. This venue doesn't have any seating, so we will buy some baked goods and take them to Headingley Rose Garden just across the road.
About the venue
Get Baked is known for making national news and bringing people from across the country to visit. It has an assortment of quirky sweet treats, with specialities being dessert pies, cookies, brownies and an enormous multi-layer chocolate cake which has created many imitations. You can see their menu here (select order for pick up to just view the menu).
Getting here
Headingley is very well connected with multiple transport options available. There is free parking on nearby residential streets (if you can find a space) alternatively you can park for very cheap outside the Headingley Tabs pub directly next to where we are meeting - this car park always has many available spaces at this time of day.
Busses leave to Headingley every few minutes from the city centre with direct services available from some other areas. The nearest train station is Headingley but be aware it is about a 10-15 minute walk away. I recommend using an app like Google Maps to see transport times and locations.
Again: The venue has no seating so we will meet in the Rose Garden across the road. Because of this, this event is weather permitting.
