This group is for fans of Japanese anime, manga, and media. We gather to discuss our favorite shows, share recommendations, and more.

We hope it provides a safe space for people who like all things anime, including cosplay, gaming, and geek culture. With this group, you can expect events like conventions, films at local theaters, seasonal anime screenings, arcade nights, and more!

We have a girl's group (get in touch with Neikey, one of our organizers), and a guy's group (get in touch with Mike, one of our organizers) to provide a safe space for people and allow people to hang out offline.

Retro Anime Screening @ Chicago Public Library (West Loop)
West Loop Branch, Chicago Public Library, 122 N Aberdeen St, Chicago, IL, USAnime Chicago Hangouts is having a retro anime screening! We'll be watching a bunch of cool episodes from "old" anime. So experience these "old" classics that most of every show today s̶e̶c̶r̶e̶t̶l̶y̶ ̶j̶u̶s̶t̶ ̶r̶e̶h̶a̶s̶h̶e̶s̶ takes inspiration from.

About the Chicago Public Library of West Loop:
The screener will meet on the second floor of the Chicago Public Library in the West Loop (122 N Aberdeen St, Chicago, IL 60607).
• The West Loop library has been generous to provide us with this space, so we ask everyone to be respectful of the Chicago Public Library's Code of Conduct regarding behavior & speaking volume.
• The library has specified that light snacks remain allowed (i.e. bagels/donuts/munchkins/chips), but so long as this is not a full meal.
• Please try to update your RSVP within at least 12 hours before this event if you can't make it to be respectful towards any folks on the waitlist.
Schedule (Rough Estimate):
*this schedule is made with the assumption that shows are 20-35 minutes running & that we will not suffer from significant tech difficulties.
• 11:30am - 11:45am: Setup equipment, chairs, snacks, & optional nametags.
• 11:45am - ~4:00pm: Watch anime (listed in the Google Sheets above), w/ two 15-minute breaks in-between.
• 4:00pm ~ 4:15pm: _Wrap-up, clean-up, & heading out to our post-screener food & discussion event afterwards.
Post Meet-Up:
There will be a 4:30pm meetup at Time Out Market Chicago (916 W Fulton Market, Chicago IL 60607) for those interested in hanging out afterwards! Look at our Meetup Page to find it!

Time Out Market Chicago, 916 W Fulton Market, Chicago, IL, USThis a follow-up to our Anime Screener Meetup event! But if you couldn't make it to that one, feel free to come anyways!
We'll be meeting at Time Out Market to get some grub & have conversations about the shows we watched at the sampler. Time Out Market is a large food court filled with several seating areas & restaurants. We usually go to the second floor, so look for a big group of people up there if you're coming in late.
People can stay or diverge at their content as this is moreso an afterparty to the screener itself.
