What we’re about
Welcome to the New York City branch of the Center for Inquiry (CFI).
The Center for Inquiry strives to foster a secular society based on reason, science, free inquiry, and humanist values. The Center for Inquiry New York City sponsors leading thinkers for lectures and panel discussions on science, philosophy, and religion; supports local community events and campus groups; and works with media and opinion makers. We also hold social events to help build a friendly community of secular citizens here in New York City.
For more information, please visit our Web site where you can also signup to receive our monthly newsletter (just click Receive E-Mails at the lower right, and keep up to date on CFI-NYC upcoming events!) .
CFI NYC is a member of Reasonable New York, a coalition of many groups around the New York
area devoted to critical thinking, and celebrating science and secularism.

See all- 'Day of Reason' (with SHSNY and guest speaker Fish Stark)Tony's di Napoli, New York, NY
Folks, We are invited to join the 'Day of Reason' sponsored by the Secular Humanist Society of NY (SHSNY).
This year's invited speaker is Fish Stark, the Executive Director of the American Humanist Assocation. His talk is titled "We Are the Moral Majority"
The event is a luncheon at Tony's di Napoli in midtown which serves classic Italian-American cuisine and is always a crowd-pleaser. The price is a reasonable $50 for non-SHSNY members (or $40 for members).

Day of Reason 2025 — SHSNY - Cherry Blossom Walk (at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden+ Museum)Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Brooklyn, NY
Folks, It's Cherry Blossom season, once again! It's always tricky to time this event, as weather affects the peak bloom season. But as of today, Brooklyn Botanic Garden is still 'pre-bloom' in the main area yet there are a few 'peak bloom' trees near the pond.
So, we will meet and stroll through the blossoms, then head into the Museum for a quick tour through their ancient Egyptian exhibits (my personal fave), and end with an early group dinner near the museum.
I hope you will join us!
You can track the state of the blooms here:
