What we’re about
If you love to walk and meet people outside of the usual places, this group is for you. It's open to everyone of all ages. (It's not a hiking group -- we won't be climbing anything -- though hikers are welcome.) 😊
We'll visit some of the best spots, including safe trails, in Kennebec and Somerset counties. If the group grows, we can schedule visits farther away.
• Walks will average 2-4 miles.
• Lunch or dinner (including takeout, picnics, etc.) or visiting a nearby local event is an option after the walk.
• Meetings will last a few hours and take place mostly on weekends and occasional weekdays, like Fridays, at least twice a month.
It's a chance to get out more and meet new people while you enjoy a favorite pastime.
Thanks, and I look forward to meeting you and walking with you sometime.
Event cancellations/rescheduling: If there will be a major wind or rainstorm or it will be hot and humid without a breeze (80 degrees Fahrenheit or above), the event will be cancelled and rescheduled. I'll try to give at least 48 hours' notice.

See all- Belfast Harbor Walk/Rail Trail (and Craft Fair)Passy Rail Trail, Belfast , ME
This paved riverside pathway offers many gorgeous views of the Passawamkeag River and boats in the harbor. There are also some pleasant parks along the way.
Near the end, in the Steamboat Landing Park, Coastal Connections will host a Mother's Day Craft Fair featuring 60+ vendors (10 am to 4 pm). If we're up for it, we can stop there during or after the walk and/or have lunch at a nearby eatery.
Where we'll meet: At the kiosk at the Armistice Bridge, as pictured among the first photos in the gallery. In case anyone gets lost, I'll text through the MeetUp app before we meet. If you use a GPS, entering "Belfast Rail Trail" or "Belfast Harbor Walk" should take you nearby.
Parking: Along Water Street, the City Point Railroad Museum (along City Point Road), and at the Stephenson Preserve parking lot, near the trail’s midpoint. The lots near the end of the walk, at the Boathouse, might be filled because of the fair.
