AI, ADHD, & the Effort Crisis: What Parents Need to Know Now, Tues 11/10
·OnlineOnlineAI arrived in our kids' backpacks faster than any technology before it, and most parents are finding out what it's doing from a report card or a call from school. Kevin J. Roberts works every week with the students who are actually using it. He has watched tools like ChatGPT take over the part of learning that builds a thinking brain, which is the effort itself. He calls it the Effort Crisis. For kids with ADHD, the stakes are higher. AI can be the support that finally lets a bright, disorganized student show what they know. It can also become the easiest way ever invented to avoid the hard, boring work an ADHD brain already resists. In this talk, Kevin will show parents what AI use looks like from inside a student's world, including the workarounds most adults never see. He will explain what the research says happens to learning when AI does the thinking, and he will give families practical tools from his new book, The Effort Crisis, including the difference between using AI as a calculator and using it as a ghostwriter, and how to build a family AI agreement that works for a child with ADHD. Parents will leave knowing what to ask at home and what to ask their child's school.
Kevin J. Roberts, M.A., works every week with the students who are actually using AI. As an academic coach and ADHD coach in Michigan, he works with students from middle school through college, and he writes and speaks to help parents, teachers, and therapists understand what AI is doing to the way kids learn. Kevin is the author of The Effort Crisis: What AI Is Doing to Your Child's Ability to Think (2026) in addition to six other books.RSVP to receive your Zoom link by confirmation email
