This course is for paying Bitraf members only. If you are not a paying member, sign up for membership at https://bitraf.no/# before the course.
If you want to make precise cuts in thin materials, a laser cutter may just be what you need.
Bitraf has 2 laser cutters capable of cutting lines and engraving patterns in wood, plastic, fabric, leather and more. It's entirely possible to do dangerous and harmful things with the cutter. Therefore it is mandatory to complete a laser-course at Bitraf before using the machinery. During this course we will look at the whole process from a simple and quick design project to a finished object.To create cutting files you can use programs such as Illustrator, Inkscape, Fusion 360 or Rhino. Both Inkscape and Fusion can be installed for free; https://inkscape.org/en, https://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/overview. For Fusion, sign up for «Start-Up or Educational licensing». During this course we will use Bitraf's PC so bringing your own laptop is optional.

• Because of high expenses and running costs for the laser, you need to be a paying member of Bitraf to attend this course. Please join Bitraf at http://bitraf.no/join before signing up to the course.
• The course starts with a group theory presentation (about 45 min), then practical training that can take up to an hour each. You will be added to the 'TOOLS' tool access system at this point, meaning you will have everything you need to start using the lasers straight away. You are free to leave after the practical part.Please join Bitraf Slack workspace and register for the bitraf google calendar before attending the course:

Details
This course is for paying Bitraf members only. If you are not a paying member, sign up for membership at https://bitraf.no/# before the course.
Band saws are ideal for cutting curves and intricate shapes in wood. They can also be used for ripping lumber to size, resawing, and cutting joints. Using the band saw can can be dangerous and harmful. Therefore, it is mandatory to complete a band saw-course at Bitraf before operating the machinery. Although band saws are generally considered safer than table saws, any machine with a moving blade must be taken seriously. Band saws generate noise while cutting, and their blades can be just as dangerous as spinning table saw blades, though with a lower risk of kickback. During this course, you will learn how to use the band saw safely.
Norwegian documentation for the band saw can be found here;
