Have you decided your Memorial day long weekend plan yet? Do you want to make friends in this early summer music festival, to get ready for another summer?
The Boogie music festival, held in the weekend before Memorial Day, could be one of south bay's longest civic festivals. It started in 1978 to celebrate the fruit growing industry of then Campbell, (yes, the Prune Yard is a real prune yard), then gradually became today's music festival.
The festival draws about 20-30k each year, 5 stages of live entertainment, food, drinks etc., with line dancing, costume contests, and a Battle of the Bands on Sunday. Voted one of the South Bay's Best Festivals.
As usual, two tracks to attend the event:

https://titanvolunteers.com/volunteers/sign_up_individual/1199-Bay-To-Breakers-2026
--------------------The Bay2Breakers, SF's iconic costume run and walk. Started in 1912, part race, part parade. Usually 50k strong. It is a fun event, as volunteers, you get to see all kinds of people parading in front of you, yes, ALL kinds as you can imagine for SF :).
The Volunteer SF series isn't to ask your free labor :), more offer you a chance to do group social by volunteering together in such an exciting huge culture and history rich community event. Such community volunteering is a great chance for us transplants, especially immigrants, to go out of our professionals' cocoon, to meet the local, to see what is going on, to feel the life.
Of course we don't want to send you out there just by your own. Rather, we organize people to go in groups, and get connected with your fellow civic minded while doing good. As usual, we will provide in event real time WhatsApp channel so you can sync with fellow volunteers for after-shift group coffee / meal. If you met other volunteers that are interested in social, invite them along. Given enough people, we would also organize community participation group to socialize and support volunteers in the event, may also visit you on the shifts. To be announced.

SF Bay to Breakers 12k/15k party-run
Main Street/Howard Street, San Francisco, CA, USNOTE: this is more of an informational event posting and less of a typical Meetup event posting since this is a city event with thousands of people, so meeting specific people from our group will be hard. Making this event anyways though as a way to get the word out to people who might be new to the area and don't know about this, and also leaving the comments open to anyone who wants to try coordinating something.
If you're new to the Bay Area, come check out this annual 12k run/walk in San Francisco. Thousands of people attend this event, and this race even set the world record for most participants in a footrace with 110,000 participants back in 1986! This is a pretty laid back event, with many people dressing up in costumes for the race, so don't worry if you're not a runner since there will be plenty of us walking too. This is less of a race and more of a party where people eat, drink, and play music along the course, so this is a fun time! Here's another article discussing the event.
There's the traditional 12k race, an extended 15k race, and a centipede version where you're tied together with (up to) 12 other people and you need to complete the race together (links to all of these below).
The first wave starts at 8:00am and last wave starts at 8:45am (from Main Street and Howard Street near Embarcadero). Also keep in mind prices increase as we get closer to the event, so get your ticket now if you know you want to go!

NOTE again in case you skipped the start: since there are thousands of people at this event and people might be in different heats, meeting before (and probably during) the event will be chaos, so this will not be a typical Meetup experience. If you want to run with other people, I encourage you to come out to other events we host so you can meet people in person and figure out who you want to run with.SAFETY DISCLAIMER
The organizers of this meet-up are unpaid volunteers and not expert guides.
