🌿 About Autism On the Go (AOG)

Autism On the Go (AOG) is a community-driven organization creating welcoming, neuroaffirming spaces for Autistic adults, other neurodivergent people, and allies to connect, reflect, and grow — together.

We believe community should be accessible, gentle, and real. Our spaces are designed to reduce pressure, support different communication styles, and honor people’s energy, boundaries, and lived experience.

Our groups support everyone regardless of identity or status.
Check out our Community Guidelines for more information on ways to safely participate in all AOG spaces.

🌱 About this group

This weekly gathering is a warm, reflective space for neurodivergent adults to explore the inner world of neurodivergence — the emotions, patterns, challenges, strengths, and meaning-making processes that shape our lives.

We meet every Thursday at 6 PM (ET) on Zoom for thoughtful, authentic conversation. Themes often include:

  • Accompaniment — the art of being with
  • Human connection & emotional safety
  • Schemas, inner patterns, and reflection
  • Autistic communication styles
  • Boundaries, pacing, overwhelm, and recovery
  • Belonging vs. fitting in (and the role of shame)
  • Identity, inner worlds, and meaning

These conversations are built around presence, not performance.

You’re welcome to speak, listen quietly, use the chat, step away, stim, or simply be.

There is no expectation to mask or participate in any particular way.

🌿 Explore the wider AOG community

If this space resonates with you, there are many ways to connect with AOG beyond this group — at your own pace and in the ways that feel right.

You’re invited to explore:

  • 🌐 Our main website — learn about AOG’s values, programs, and vision
  • 📬 Sign up for updates — get gentle emails about groups, events, and opportunities
  • 💚 Other virtual groups — social, reflective, and interest-based spaces
  • 😇 Membership — support the organization and access deeper connection
  • 🌱 Autistic Leaders Program — for those interested in facilitation, mentorship, advocacy, or community leadership (at your own pace, with support)

There is no “right” level of involvement. Some people come once. Some stay for years. Some quietly observe. Some step into leadership over time. All are welcome.

🧡 The Yamas & Niyamas Book Club
Exploring Yoga’s Ethical Practice by Deborah Adele

Join us for a thoughtful and structured exploration of the 10 foundational ethical principles of yoga — and it’s first two limbs - the Yamas and Niyamas — not as abstract philosophy, but as living practices for modern relational life.

We will move through the book slowly and deliberately, allowing time for reflection, discussion, and maximal comprehension. This is not a race — it is a deep dive.

Throughout the series, we will explore each principle through multiple lenses:

The Eight Limbs of Yoga — how ethical foundations support meditation and integration
The Attributes of Companionship — what creates steadiness, warmth, and repair in relationships
The Framework of Relational Capacities — curiosity, regulation, empathy, attunement, meta-awareness, and expansion
Attachment Patterns — how early bonding shapes adult connection
Childhood Development — how adaptive strategies and nervous system learning influence behavior
Psychological Integration — movement from fragmentation toward coherence
Contemporary Neuroscience — including the role of left-dominant Default Mode Network activity, overthinking loops, narrative selfing, and how deeper mindfulness practices soften reactivity

We will examine feeling tone, subtle reactive pulses, and stimulus-independent thought — learning to notice the micro-movements of the mind before they crystallize into behavior. This adds a modern layer of contemplative science to the ethical foundations of yoga.

Meetings will also include guest speakers from a variety of disciplines — psychology, neuroscience, contemplative practice, somatics, and relational development — offering cross-disciplinary insight and practical application.

This is not about perfection.
It is about expansion.

Expect:
📖 deep reading
🧠 psychological insight
🧘 contemplative grounding
🤝 relational skill-building
✨ reflective dialogue

If you are interested in expanding awareness, strengthening companionship, and cultivating steadier presence in your relationships, we invite you to join us.
