What we’re about
Welcome to the Atlanta Volunteers! We are a 501 c 3 and can award community service hours. alan@theabilityrevolution.com for information. Our registered name is FORSYTH AREA SPORTS TEAMS but our business name is THE ATLANTA VOLUNTEERS. If you click on our link for past events, you will see over 10 years and hundreds of events for the citizens of Georgia. Use this list to dream big about what can be possible!
Our success is due to volunteers with a vision to help others. If your event is a true volunteer event, please ask to be an event leader so that you can post your event and manage your volunteers.
I would like to invite you to be a leader and create an event for fun and with the goal of helping people. Sharing joy in this world is one of the greatest volunteer activities you can do and combining fun with your event will make it a success.
My passion for being a volunteer centers around my son who has Down Syndrome. The project to find employment, quality of life and respite care for a wide variety of conditions can be found at https://theabilityrevolution.com
I am currently the leader of Pack 114 Special Scouts. This is made up of boys, girls, men and women with special needs. Nobody ages out of the program and all are welcome. Forsyth County allows us to use an indoor heated pool with a meeting space for our scouts, as well as great use of county facilities such as campgrounds and nature centers. I am willing to share this access with anyone who has a true volunteer event. Please contact me alan@theabilityrevolution.com if you live in the Forsyth County area and would like to be involved.
One last thing, please login to your Kroger shopping card and list the FORSYTH AREA SPORTS TEAMS as your chosen charity.
Cheers
Alan Kindree

See all- Atlanta Food Pantry Needs Volunteers3700 Wendell Dr SW suite 4, Atlanta, GA
Our Food Pantry is open Fridays from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. We are asking that volunteers arrive by 10:00 a.m. to assist with set-up. Volunteers will help distribute food/items at designated stations throughout our warehouse to deserving individuals and families in need.
Our agency has a volunteer sign-up page through Hands On Atlanta. We manager our volunteers on that site. You must sign-up there to be able check-in and out on our volunteer kiosk that we will have out on the day of the event.
You may RSVP here on Meetup; however, we would still prefer you to sign-up via our volunteer link: Volunteer Sign-Up Link. It's easier for us to manage our volunteer flow. When you click the link please select which event you would like to volunteer for. Once you've select the event name please click the BLUE sign-up! You do not need to create an account to sign-up.
- Virtual Documentary Night: Bike Vessel [Voting Night]Link visible for attendees
**YOU MUST WATCH THE FILM ON YOUR OWN BEFORE THIS EVENT**
For this Virtual Documentary Night we have voted to talk about the documentary, Bike Vessel. Knowing his dad miraculously recovered from three open-heart surgeries after discovering a passion for cycling, filmmaker Eric D. Seals proposes an ambitious idea: Bike together from St. Louis to Chicago. 350 miles. 4 days. On their journey, the two push each other as they find a deeper connection and a renewed appreciation of their quests for their own health and to reimagine Black health. Again, you must watch the film before attending this event. Here is a link to where you can watch the film for free.

This is a Voting Night, which means at the end of the night we brainstorm and vote to decide as a group what we will watch the following month, so please come ready with your recommendation. The only requirement is that the film must be available to watch online for free. If you need any ideas, you can search through the Flyers Page on the Community Documentary Night website. It is full of flyers based around certain themes and each flyer is full of documentary posters, which are hyperlinked to where you watch the films for free. Something to consider is that next month is June, which is Pride Month, and Juneteenth is celebrated on June 19th. Check out the Pride Month flyer or the Juneteenth flyer if you're interested in recommending a film in honor of these holidays.
Again, you must watch the film on your own BEFORE the event. We will be meeting over Zoom, where we will break out into small discussion groups. We will do multiple rounds of small group discussion, then have a special guest Q&A, before closing out the night with a vote to decide what film we will watch the following month. The Zoom information is listed below.

Meeting ID: 875 5525 6659
Passcode: 861888This event is posted in multiple meetup groups, and on Eventbrite, as well as with members of the Community Documentary Night email list. (Message me if interested in joining the email list) Therefore, THIS RSVP LIST IS NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE ATTENDING THE EVENT. So even if you only see one person RSVPed in this meetup group, there will always be others in attendance from other groups. We tend to have at least 20 on average. By inviting numerous groups that increases the likelihood that those in attendance will be from varying backgrounds and beliefs. This is done purposefully to provide everyone with the opportunity to hear a wide range of perspectives.
This event is open to all who are open to all. The one thing we ask is that people allow others to get their full thought out and that any disagreement is voiced in a civil way. Check out the Community Documentary Night website for more info or links to previously shown documentaries.
Thank you and hope to see you there!
- TRUCK THURSDAYS3700 Wendell Dr SW suite 4, Atlanta, GA
Our Food Pantry has truck deliveries every Thursday around Noon. After the shipment of food has been unloaded off of our truck we are needing volunteers to help us with the unboxing & unpacking of food as well as with the sorting and organizing.
We are asking volunteers to help from Noon - 4 p.m. A lot of times we do finish before 4 p.m. Please still come if you can only volunteer just for a few hours. We have lots of fun!!
