About us

What is ReCentered?

ReCentered is a community for women in their 30s and 40s who are childfree by choice and want to build rich, expansive lives without making romantic relationships the center of them.

We’re here to explore what happens when we stop treating partnership, marriage, and motherhood as the default measures of a successful or fulfilled life, and start putting our time, energy, attention, and curiosity toward the many other things that make life meaningful.

You don't have to be single. You don't have to be anti-relationship. You don't have to swear off dating. You might love being single, actively date, be happily partnered, be newly divorced, be somewhere in between, or simply be questioning how much mental real estate romantic relationships occupy in your life.

The common thread is that we want romance to be part of our lives...not the thing our lives revolve around.

Who are we hoping to meet?

We’re looking for smart, curious, growth-oriented women who:

  • Are childfree by choice and intend to remain childfree
  • Want meaningful friendships and a community of women who genuinely “get it”
  • Are interested in decentering romantic relationships and investing more energy in the rest of their lives
  • Want to cultivate fulfilling careers, hobbies, friendships, adventures, travel, creativity, personal growth, and fun
  • May or may not want romantic relationships—and aren't interested in making finding or maintaining one their primary life project
  • Want to approach dating and relationships with intention, self-awareness, healthy boundaries, discernment, and a lot less drama
  • Are willing to challenge themselves and each other with honesty and compassion
  • Want to support other women without turning the group into a place to endlessly vent about exes, complain about men, or dissect every text message from a potential partner

This isn't an anti-men or anti-love group. We believe relationships can be wonderful. We're simply interested in creating lives that are so full and meaningful that romance becomes one part of the picture rather than the entire picture.

What will we do?

A little bit of everything!

Some events will be purely about having an awesome time together: day hikes, dinners, bookshops, museums, concerts, travel, trying new restaurants, learning new things, and finding excuses to get out and experience life together.

Other events will be more intentional and reflective, with roundtable conversations and discussions about topics like:

  • Decentering romantic relationships
  • Building a life you genuinely love
  • Friendship as a central part of adult life
  • Dating without losing yourself
  • Developing discernment and healthy relationship boundaries
  • Knowing when to stay, when to communicate, and when to walk away
  • Ambition, creativity, adventure, and personal growth
  • Designing a life outside the traditional relationship → marriage → children script

Our goal isn't to tell each other how to live. It's to create a community where we can challenge, support, laugh with, learn from, and cheer each other on as we figure it out.

Come for the hikes, dinners, books, travel, and ridiculous amounts of laughter. Stay because you've finally found your people.
