American Mahjong - COS

(No teaching this Saturday)

PRIZES AND MINGLING—we generally pull cards to determine what table you will be playing at, and who you get to play with. This keeps us meeting new people. And prizes—pick a duck/animal or a sticker when you get a Mah Jong. Just a bit of added fun. 🤩

This meetup day will be for people who already know how to play and are proficient in their skills ( need no guidance). If you DON’T know how to play and would like to learn, please sign-up and attend a Saturday, Monday, or Thursday meetup instead.

We will meet on the main/upper floor at the tables near the Service Desk.
No food is allowed. Beverages in containers with lids are permitted.

If you have an American Mahjong set, please bring it (in case we need extra sets). We are now playing with 2026 Mahjong cards, so please bring that, too (if you have it.)

This meetup will be back at the Treehouse Cafe again, located on N. ACADEMY Blvd. Spoke to the owner and she said it was ok to play there.

I hope we would all purchase something to help the local business owner, and not bring in outside food. Of course, water bottles are fine.

It would be so nice if we could all keep the noise level down so we don’t disturb other people in the cafe who are working on computers or reading a book.

If you have a American Mahjong set, please bring it (in case we need extra sets. You could just have it in your car). We will still be playing with 2026 Mahjong cards, so please bring that, too (if you have one).

Don’t forget to order the 2026 card as we will begin playing with it the first part of April once members receive theirs.

Get out of the house and come play some American Mahjong. Everyone is welcome to attend. If you do NOT know how to play and would like to learn, please come half an hour early (12:30PM) so the rules, tile names, set up, etc. can be explained. Really, the best way to learn is to just play and ask questions. Gotta start somewhere. 😀

We will look for tables on the main/upper level near the Service Desk (entering from Chapel Hills Dr). We will gather here.

If there are not enough tables, we may need to move about the library to find other tables to play on ( main or lower floor). We’ve been informed there are other tables among the book stacks. Let’s be flexible as we try out this new venue for Saturdays.

If you cannot come, please, please, please change your reservation so others can attend, especially if there is a waitlist. Don't reserve and be a no-show. If you reserve and have 3 no-shows, expect to be removed from the group.

If you have an American Mahjong set, please bring it (in case we need extra sets). We are still playing with 2025 Mahjong cards. The host has extra cards if you do not have a card yet. New 2026 cards will not be available until end of Mar/ beginning of Apr 2026.
