(Dutch below) The Almere Tech Meetup is all about sharing inspiration around new technology and everything related to digital innovation. Each month (on the third Thursday), we invite a speaker to talk about an innovative technology or a current project. There’s also plenty of opportunity to connect and engage in informal conversations.
We warmly welcome all tech enthusiasts and digital pioneers from Almere and the surrounding area to join our event, hosted at the WonderBit office, right in the heart of Almere.
Come by for a drink and a bite, meet new people, and share your ideas and inspiration!

De Almere Tech Meetup draait om het delen van inspiratie rond nieuwe technologie en alles wat met digitalisering te maken heeft. Tijdens elke bijeenkomst (de 3e donderdag van de maand) nodigen we een spreker uit die vertelt over een innovatieve technologie of een actueel project. Daarnaast is er volop ruimte om in een informele sfeer met elkaar in gesprek te gaan. We verwelkomen alle techliefhebbers en digitale pioniers uit Almere en omgeving om deel te nemen aan ons evenement, dat plaatsvindt op het kantoor van WonderBit, midden in het centrum van Almere.
Kom langs voor een drankje en een hapje, maak kennis met andere mensen en deel jouw ideeën en inspiratie!

Accessibility matters (for all)!
What does it really mean to depend on digitally accessible applications in everyday life?
We begin by trying to understand how people use screen readers, eye control and other assistive tools. Stijn Sprenkels will introduce the topic and show why choices that may seem small can make a big difference.
Next, UX/UI designer Consuelo Monsegur will share her experience designing accessible digital products, including an app she developed for the Special Olympics in Paraguay. Norman Sedney will talk about making websites more accessible in practice, drawing on his work with HuGo Almere and his initiative Digi Inclusie.
Finally, software developer Jeffrey de Looff will take us behind the scenes of the MijnKPN app. He will show how his team worked to improve its accessibility, from colours, spacing and responsive layouts to voice and keyboard use. His talk connects design decisions with the work needed to deliver accessible features to users.
There will be time for questions and discussion throughout the evening. Whether you design or develop digital products, work in education, or are simply curious about the topic, you are welcome to join us.
The program is as follows:
- 18:00 Doors open at De Nieuwe Bibliotheek.
- 18:15 Welcome by Stijn, with a simple snack and a drink.
- 18:45 Programme begins in De Nieuwe Zaal. Stijn introduces digital accessibility through practical examples, followed by talks from Consuelo and Norman.
- 19:15 Q&A and discussion about accessible design and its use in practice.
- 19:30 Jeffrey shares his experience making the MijnKPN app more accessible.
- 20:15 Q&A and discussion about the technology behind accessibility, followed by a short recap.
- 20:45 Drinks and informal conversation.
- 21:30 De Nieuwe Bibliotheek closes.
