What we’re about
Short novels can be an excellent introduction to authors. The reading commitment is not so great, and it's possible to dig deeper into the fine points of the text. In this group we will meet to discuss short novels of up to 200 pages or so, perhaps sometimes substituting a grouping of short stories.

Taken by surprise, a small coastal town is overrun by an invading army with little resistance.
In The Moon is Down, a small, peaceable town comes face-to-face with evil imposed from the outside and betrayal from within the close-knit community. As he delves into the motivations and emotions of the enemy, Steinbeck uncovers profound and often unsettling truths both about war and human nature.
