What we’re about
This group is operated by the Adirondack Mtn. Club - Albany Chapter (4/12/2023).
We are a very active local group dedicated to conservation, advocacy, recreation, education and stewardship of New York's wilderness areas. We sponsor a wide range of outdoor activities ranging from hiking, backpacking, padding, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing to educational programs, monthly meetings and social events for people who love the outdoors. We also support efforts to protect and preserve New York's wilderness areas. Be sure to check out our extensive listing of scheduled outings at:

See all- Windham High Peak, BNeeds location
Windham High Peak, Catskills. I expect to hike from Route 23 up the Long Path and then the Escarpment Trail to the Peak (part of this route is currently closed, but DEC expects it to be open by May 4). This is an out and back hike. Distance is about 7.2 miles with a 1750 foot elevation gain. The hike is a gradual climb up the mountain and passes through different wooded ecosystems on the way up. While the peak is wooded, there are a few expansive viewpoints. Hopefully there will be some spring ephemerals to enjoy. While relatively easy for a Catskills high peak hike, it is still necessary to be in good physical condition, ready for the elevation gain and distance of the hike. We will hike as a group, with a target speed that is neither fast nor slow.
To sign up for this hike, you must email the leader dmvanryn@gmail.com. Please provide a short description of hike experience and interest in carpooling (and from what town). I will provide further details via email to registered participants.
