AI 2026: Beyond the Hype – Predicting the Unpredictable
Farm Credit Services of America, 5015 South 118th Street, Omaha, NE, USHey AI Omaha Crowd!
We’re starting 2026 with a dive into what to expect in AI this year. Our focus will be on the following areas:
AI Development – Is the AI industry forever stuck in a loop of creating larger and larger models, or is the focus shifting toward smaller, hyper-focused models? And is 2026 the year LLMs stop just chatting and start taking action through agentic models?
Business – Impressed by AI, every boss in America seems to have caught a heavy case of FOMO, approving AI projects left and right. 2026 is shaping up to be the year the rubber hits the road, with AI initiatives needing to demonstrate real ROI.
Employment – Is 2026 the year we all get replaced by AI, or does the employment landscape improve as LLMs enhance quality-of-life issues in day-to-day work and create entirely new job sectors?
Regulation – Are the free-wheeling days of using generative models to create content coming to an end with new legal rulings around copyright? And what safeguards is the industry putting in place to make chatbots safer in 2026?
As one wise high school senior once said:
“AI moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you might miss that T-800 coming your way.”
You don’t want to be the one who misses the T-800, do you?
Then we’ll see you at our first meeting of 2026.
About our Speaker, Steve Green, PhD, Founder, Clip Art Monster:
After college, Steve Green began his career as researcher at Stanford and Duke and earned a doctorate in Cognitive Neuroscience from Indiana University. His research focused on identifying the regions of the brain active during frustration. When data science hit it big time, he shifted from studying biological neurons to training silicon neurons.
Over his data science career, Steve has collaborated with companies, non-profits, and educational organizations to build predictive models and apply advanced statistical analyses to solve complex problems. More recently, he has combined his passion for graphic design with artificial intelligence to found Clip Art Monster, a search platform for digital assets. In this role, he has worked with LLMs, embedding models, and generative AI to create advanced tools for searching digital assets based on design features.
