This is a moderate hike in shady Bair Canyon, but we will also be listening for and identifying birds. Specifically, we will ID birds only in areas where the rushing sound of the water doesn't drown out bird calls. Since the trail follows the stream, this is mainly a hike but stopping a few times here and there where it is quieter for bird ID.
If you would like to ID birds, download the Merlin app (free) before the hike. Otherwise, you can just take the rest breaks and chill.
We will set a turn around time to be done by 3 hours. I don't plan to go past the second stream crossing. The hike is out and back, so anyone can turn back if they don't want to hike that long.
The trailhead parking lot is up a steep hill. If the parking lot is full, you can just park along the road.
