Bay area meetup group for Robot Operating System (ROS) users.
ROS is an open source set of software libraries and tools that help you build robot applications. Meetups will focus on talks about ROS, Gazebo, and other elements of the ROS ecosystem. Topics can range anywhere from core development to research projects to product development.
If you want to share your experiences with ROS or come listen and discuss, this is the group for you!

ROS By-The-Bay September Meetup at Bosch w.s.g. 6thSense YCS26 and Bob Nugman
Bosch USA, 384 Santa Trinita Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA, USROS By-The-Bay is the Bay Area's only meetup exclusively for Robot Operating System (ROS) users!
For our September meetup, we have three fantastic speakers at an amazing new location: Bosch USA headquarters at 384 Santa Trinita Avenue Sunnyvale, CA 94085.
Our speakers for September will be:- Riboni Mauro, Technical Lead of Alliance and Partnership at Bosch Sensortec, will discuss the Bosch ROS 2 ecosystem, their current deployments, the capabilities available in Bosch ctrlX ROS 2 SDK, and future efforts of Bosch Sensortec.
- James Baek, CEO of 6thSense (YC S26) – Robots are mostly trained with vision, motion, and audio data while tactile sensing is finally catching up. However, almost every medium out there is research-grade and the collected data still seems useless. I will discuss the biggest bottleneck for dexterous manipulation, where tactile data collection currently stands in the field, and what defines a "good" data.
- Bob Nugman, Co-founder of swarms is us, will give a brief talk and demo on why first-principle thinking still applies (in the age of deep learning). Bob will demo compliant, back-driveable motion in a Seeed ReBot arm and a completely compliant cartesian “air hockey” demo. The key is robustly compensating for all of the forces. In our case we will be tackling gravity and friction for active Direct Torque Control.
