Hello! I am looking forward to seeing everyone :) Here is an updated event description:
This is not some kind of official festival. It is just a bunch of local musicians playing on various porches for free.
- You will probably want to bring a lawn chair.
- You might want to bring your own snacks and drinks. There is also the Big City Small World Bakery at 500 Miller Avenue. It has drinks, sandwiches, and baked goods available for carry out.
- THERE IS NO BATHROOM. So, I don’t know, control your liquid intake? Alternatively, the public library is open on Sundays just 1.8 miles away at 2503 Jackson Avenue. That is a quick drive with ample parking and clean facilities.
- There is no comprehensive official schedule. Here is what I have been able to cobble together by talking to various people:
507 Miller Avenue
2:00 – 3:00 Deep Steam - Rocking soul hits.
3:00 – 4:00 Annette Marie & Friends - Angelic acoustic.
4:00 – 5:00 She-Bop - Motown girl-group.
411 Fountain Street
2:00 - 3:00 The Glen Leven Band - Rocking originals & Irish Pub music.
3:30 - 4:30 The Dave McDaniel Band - Blues-rock trio.
509 Fountain Street
2:00 – 3:00 Milan Seth Band - Acoustic originals.
600 Robin Road
3:00 – 4:00 Rock Jones - Rock & roll.
4:00 - 5:00 Slam Duncan - Jazz.
611 Hiscock Street
3:30 - 4:30 Spark - Dance-friendly pop/rock covers.
4:30 - 5:30 Corndaddy - Country rock.
5:30 - 6:30 Vicissitones - Surf and Spy instrumentals.
I will be walking around, and I will be at the 5:30 to 6:30 Vicissitones show at 611 Hiscock street. I will have a maize and blue U of M folding chair, with a paper sign on the back that says “MEETUP” on it. I will be wearing a tan cap that says “YPSI” on it.
For anyone who wants to get dinner afterwards: There are restaurants downtown within walking distance, but they tend to be pretty expensive. We might want to go to Don Juan (below), which is only two miles away, has ample parking, great service, and reasonable prices:
Don Juan Mexican Bar & Grill
2135 W Stadium Blvd, Ann Arbor
Or if anyone else has suggestions, let us know!
