TYPE: Hike | PACE: Moderate | TERRAIN: Dirt Trail, Some Inclines | DISTANCE: Approx. 4 miles out-and-back
We’re heading north for a beautiful morning hike at Devil’s Backbone Open Space in Loveland! This scenic trail offers sweeping views, interesting rock formations (including the namesake "backbone"), and chances to spot wildlife. The trail is well-marked and moderately challenging, with some gentle inclines and open exposure—bring that sun hat!
You can find the full trail description here. We will at least make it to the Keyhole which is about 1.5 miles in but will play it by ear if we do the whole thing.
Note: The Devil’s Backbone trailhead requires a Larimer County parking pass. We will try to carpool to save a bit.
Post-hike/lunch stop:
We’ll grab a hearty breakfast/brunch at the Loveland Breakfast Club, a beloved local diner with all the classics—pancakes, omelets, biscuits and gravy. It's a no-fuss spot with lots of character and bottomless coffee.### Walking Movement Leader:

Wear sturdy hiking shoes with good grip, bring plenty of water, and dress for the weather (layers and sunscreen are your friend). Hats and sunglasses are helpful—this trail has little shade. Trekking poles are welcome but not necessary.
