We start in Oestrich-Winkel and hike to beautiful Vollrads palace with a tower in a lake in the middle of vineyards. Our next stop is another palace, Johannisberg, a famous winery with a great view over the Rheingau. Then we hike to monasteries of Marienthal and St. Hildegard. Our end is in Rüdesheim, where we enjoy the fireworks in Bingen, Rüdesheim and on the Rhein. There are pavilions with wine, other beverages and various foods.
We meet in Fra Hbf at 13:40 at the beginning of platform 22 for RB 10 departing at 13:53. A Deutschlandticket or RMV annual ticket is recommended, but you can also buy a single day ticket. The train back will be very full for the first stations.
The distance is ca. 16 km. Take beverages & food for the way with you. You find the route and elevation in the photos section.
