Halloween Hike at Ridley Creek! 6-7 miles
Parque Ridley Creek, +39.9508, -75.4517, Glen Mills, PA 19342, USA, Glen Mills, PA, US๐ *Please read hike description before signing up!* ๐
Soak up the fall colors and join us for a Halloween morning hike at Ridley Creek! (Come in costume if you like... medieval pilgrim, anyone??)
We'll be hiking the Yellow Trail, plus a combination of the White and Blue Trails for a total of 6 to 7 miles. We'll be on dirt paths through wooded areas, and some sections of the path have rocks and roots to navigate, plus lots of leaf cover on the ground. Please bring poles if you have them!
Unlike many of the rails-to-trails hikes that our group does, this is a hike on uneven ground with an elevation gain of approximately 600 feet. A great Camino training hike, but for our group we rate this as moderate to moderate-high difficulty. We will plan to break at the halfway point, make sure to bring snacks and plenty of water.
Bathrooms at the start/finish, at the mid-way point, and at a few other points along the way.
Please note that our hikes are dog-free.
We'll meet at Hunting Hill Mansion in Ridley Creek State Park (now called Parque Ridley Creek), which is just off Sandy Flash Drive. When entering the park from Gradyville Road, there is clear signage to the mansion and there is ample parking. Park in the upper lot and look for a group with backpacks and hiking poles. Here is a link to the location on Google Maps (https://goo.gl/maps/m8hzkw1qVFH2). Please follow this link or the link on this meetup event; just plugging 'Ridley Creek' into your phone could take you to another entrance, and it's very difficult to get from one to the other!
After the hike we'll head into Media for food/drinks, with anyone who would like to join.
Hope to see you there!
