This is the first of a two part series. In this session, we’ll walk through how developers ship code with confidence using CI/CD. You’ll set up a GitHub repo, build a static site, and create a GitHub Actions workflow that automatically deploys your site to AWS S3 every time you push changes.

You’ll leave with:

• A deployed static site you can share
• A working CI/CD pipeline using GitHub Actions
• Hands-on AWS experience
• A real example to talk about in interviews or on your resume

Pre-reqs:

• Basic comfort with using a computer
• A GitHub account (sign up beforehand) and exposure to Git
• Some experience editing or reading HTML/CSS
• Bring a laptop — this is hands-on

Now that you’ve deployed a site, we’ll take it further. In this session, you’ll build a cloud API using AWS Lambda and API Gateway. We’ll write a simple function, connect it to the web, and call it from the frontend.

You’ll leave with:

• A working serverless API you built yourself
• A deeper understanding of how cloud services work together
• The confidence to build and scale more complex projects

Pre-req:

• Everything from Session 1
• Basic comfort writing/editing code (JavaScript is helpful)
• Bring a laptop

Nice to have (optional):

• Experience making API calls or working with JSON
• Some understanding of how frontends talk to backends

Certificate of Proficiency

Participants who complete both sessions and submit a working project (details provided during the workshop) will receive a certificate showing what they’ve built and the skills they demonstrated. Something real you can show on LinkedIn, in interviews, or to your employer.
